Road to Recovery (American Cancer Society)

Patients must be traveling to an appointment required to begin or complete cancer treatment, or to an appointment for complementary therapy during cancer treatment. Transportation cannot be provided for follow-up appointments after treatment has been completed.

Call to inquire. This service offers volunteer drivers who are screened and trained by the ACS and donate their own free time and the use of their cars.

Four (4) business days' advance notice is desirable, although 2 days prior to the appointment may be adequate (not including the date transportation is needed).

Patients must be ambulatory, able to walk unassisted to and from the vehicle, or have an accompanying caregiver to assist. An escort/companion is permitted to travel with the passenger. Drivers deliver and pick up curb to curb, and they will not assist with wheelchairs, walkers or other devices. The patient is encouraged to travel with a caregiver when this type of assistance is necessary.
